Motion Sequencer
The Motion Sequencer is a structure measuring approximately 2 meters wide by 1 meter high, and can be adapted to suit the user’s needs. Resembling a wall, it can be used to create new spatial configurations within an exhibition, contribute to stage scenography forperforming artists, or simply serve as a demonstration tool in an electronic music classroom.
This sequencer allows visuals to be generated from sound, or sound to be generated from visuals, making music production more accessible to non-experts. Both the visuals and the audio outputs can be customized according to the needs of the artists using it.
The Motion Sequencer is not just a device, it is a concept, designed to challenge and transform conventional approaches to music production. It is easy to assemble, transport, and modify, making it adaptable to a wide range of contexts. In today’s context, the near-obligatory use of computers in music production processes tends to make the practice feel static or disconnected—often perceived as “geeky” and difficult to access, thus distancing it from its original, more tactile roots.
The aim was to design a controller/sequencer that allows users to step away from the computer. This tool is intended to be modular, portable, and visually transformable, adaptable to the identity of different producers who might use it, while also serving as an educational medium for audiences or users unfamiliar with music production.
