K2-18B

Water embodies one of humanity’s primary objectives in its exploration of space — the search for life beyond Earth. Since 1995, numerous exoplanets have been discovered containing water, among which K2-18b stands out as a particularly significant candidate.

The “K2-18B” installation proposes a speculative encounter with the surface of this distant world through the form of a luminous altar. A monolithic structure rises within the space, both architectural and symbolic, evoking a site of observation, devotion, or transmission.

At its core rests the imagined heart of the exoplanet — a radiant, pulsating source of light. This inner core appears to govern an unseen ecosystem, suggesting rhythms of life that remain inaccessible yet perceptible through light and vibration. The work stages a tension between scientific projection and spiritual interpretation, where data becomes myth, and discovery takes on a ritual dimension.

The reflective surface of the structure captures and distorts its surroundings, merging the exhibition space with this speculative elsewhere. The viewer is drawn into a contemplative position, oscillating between cosmic scale and intimate perception.

Through this installation, the exoplanet is no longer a distant astronomical object but becomes a sensory and symbolic presence — a projection of human desire to locate life, meaning, and perhaps even transcendence beyond our own world.
