Bonifacio’s brotherhoods bring together five Catholic groups that have become symbols of social connection and cultural identity in the city. Each represents a traditional trade, reflecting Bonifacio’s rich heritage and its movement toward modernity.
This video mapping project, designed for the terrace of the Bastion de l'Étendard, explores these brotherhoods through their professions and symbols. It aims to portray the city’s natural, human, and spiritual landscapes by combining tradition, history, and contemporary aesthetics.
Visually, the work merges archival footage, reimagined landscapes, and abstract architectural motion to create a monumental, kinetic experience. Though rooted in Catholic iconography, the focus lies more on spirituality—expressed through the unity of nature, craftsmanship, and ritual.
The projection unfolds in three main acts, Earth and Architecture, where the cliffs of Bonifacio are shaped by the brotherhood of Saint Barthélemy (builders), revealing iconic structures and symbols like the mystical lamb of Saint Jean the Baptist. Spirituality, guided by the organ of Sainte-Croix, introduces softness and introspection through archival processions and architectural movement. Nature and Sea, highlighting the brotherhoods of Sainte Marie-Madeleine and Saint Erasme, celebrates vineyards, agriculture, and fishing—culminating in a digital sea blending with sand to transform the city’s facades.
