Fermi alternate

“Fermi Paradox” is a full-dome project, following the full-dome production “111 A-L,” a journey from Earth to the exoplanet K2-18b presented at SATFEST 2022, and is introduced as a sequel. The theme extends the duo’s approach of developing a series centered on newly discovered exoplanets. In this new chapter, the narrative unfolds on K2-18b, a planet frozen in ice, where traces of an ancient and vanished civilization are discovered.

The monolithic shape of the screen acts as a gateway to other worlds, designed by this advanced civilization. It appears to guide the viewer toward new habitable lands. The existence of this civilization is inferred through the remnants and clues it has left behind, yet no evidence confirms its survival. As the journey follows in the footsteps of this lost intelligence, the work transports the viewer across exoplanets, tracing a trajectory shaped by exploration and disappearance.

The civilization’s technological advancement suggests the extraction of energy resources from one planet to another, revealing a system driven by consumption. This process ultimately leads to its own collapse, transforming once-inhabited worlds into increasingly hostile environments.

The work has also been recently re-adapted for the 2026 Digital Art Museum exhibition in Shanxi, China.
