111-AL
111A-L is an immersive experience presented as a live performance at Ateliers Éclairés in Strasbourg, as part of the Makerland festival. The performance features live music by Amadeo Savio and visual experimentation by Jésus Baptista.
The project invites the viewer to embark on a journey through space toward K2-18b, an exoplanet located within the habitable zone of its star. Considered potentially suitable for life, this planet is particularly intriguing due to the probable presence of an atmosphere capable of containing water vapor and even forming clouds. Its composition — a rocky body made of iron, silicates, and water ice, enveloped in hydrogen and helium — evokes a world in tension between solidity and fluidity.
Its distance from its star suggests the possibility of liquid water on its surface, particularly on its illuminated side. In this context, water becomes a central element, both matter and medium. It interacts with light, bending, reflecting, and dissolving it. It structures the visual and sonic landscape of the piece, oscillating between presence and disappearance.
In 111A-L, water is not treated as a mere motif but as a language in itself. It guides the design process, shaping forms and influencing the interplay between light and sound. It lies at the core of the project’s creative approach, informing a practice rooted in sensitivity to water in all its states — liquid, gaseous, and evaporative.
